Dog Training Classes Teach Commands and Manners
DogDayz offers puppy training classes (our Puppy Foundation Classes) that instill good habits at an early age. For dogs older than six months, we offer a Basic Manners Class that focuses on commands, leash training and correcting common behavioral problems.
Our dog training classes emphasize positive enforcement of desirable behaviors. We’ll teach you the words, body language and eye contact to use to ensure your dog remembers the lessons learned in dog obedience training classes.
A 6-week commitment
All of our dog-training courses meet for one hour each week, for 6 weeks. In our Puppy Foundation Class, we’ll work on:
- Teaching pups the focus needed for learning
- Basic commands, such as sit, down and come
- Positive solutions for behaviors such as biting, chewing, barking and jumping
- Leash walking
Our Basic Manners Class for dogs older than six months builds on lessons learned in puppy training classes, teaching advanced skills that include:
- Coming when called, under distraction
- Walking in crowds
- Prolonged stays under distraction
The first hour of Basic Manners Class offers a review of foundation commands, for dogs that either need a refresher or didn’t attend puppy training classes.
Class size and cost
We limit enrollment in our dog training classes to 12 dogs, because we want to provide individualized attention and instruction. Each of our dog training courses costs $120 for the 6 week course. (Please call for course schedule.)
An investment in a happy relationship
When dogs are unruly or destructive, tension often develops between owners and their pets. Dogs become frustrated because they don’t understand the rules, and owners become frustrated because they don’t know how to change their dog’s behavior.
Dog obedience classes help people and their pets understand each other. Using positive reinforcement, owners can encourage their pets to exhibit appropriate behavior. And many of the behaviors puppies and dogs learn in training also help keep them safe – a dog that comes when called and stays on command is less likely to chase cars or run into traffic.
