In the summer, you may feel like you’re fighting a losing battle against pet hair. Shedding dogs can leave fur behind nearly everywhere, and some dog breeds shed, but the loose hairs get stuck in their coat. Professional dog haircuts at DogDayz remove excess hair and help keep your pet comfortable.
Types of dog haircuts
A dog’s fur protects its skin from the sun and helps maintain normal body temperature, so most groomers advise against shaving the coat all the way down to the skin. Instead, thinning shears can make the coat lighter without exposing pets’ skin to harmful UV rays.
- Smooth-coated dogs like Dobermans rarely, if ever, need haircuts. Wirehaired dogs may occasionally need trimming, but they shed very little and don’t have thick undercoats that need to be thinned.
- Dogs with medium coats, such as German Shepherds, may occasionally need a trim around the paws or face or may need a haircut to remove hair mats. (When we remove mats, we use special shears to blend the remaining fur to make it look even).
- Long-coated dogs, such as Irish Setters, Yorkies and Pekingese, require frequent brushing and haircuts, and grooming these dogs generally takes longer, because their undersides must be trimmed, and their hair should be fluffed while drying, to avoid tangles or mats.
- Wavy-coated dogs include a diverse mix of breeds, each with distinct grooming needs. For example, the dog haircut cost for the Golden Doodle or Puli breeds may be pricier than most, because these breeds have long, ropey coats, and each “rope” requires individual attention and thorough drying.
How much is a dog haircut?
DogDayz offers competitive pricing on haircuts for dogs, a service that’s typically combined with brushing, bathing and drying. Prices vary, depending on a dog’s size, coat type, and the type of haircut requested.
Comprehensive dog grooming services
Dog haircuts are one of many grooming services we offer at DogDayz, and our competitive all-inclusive pricing allows you to choose which combination of services are best for your dog.
Nail trims and ear cleaning are some of the common requests we receive from grooming clients, and from people dropping off their dogs for Doggy Daycare or overnight boarding.
